The intention behind the publication

I quit my bricks and mortar Ayurvedic practise in 2019. I felt a change in the air - there was a momentum of shifting energy. I also started losing interest in disease; it felt like the wrong angle to approach health, even though we were trained to meet clients from this perspective.

What baffled me most was trying to understand why many of my clients were so eager to hand over their sovereignty when it came to their health - can’t you just tell me what to eat? became the common frustration. This was the opposite of what Ayurveda teaches - to learn your unique nature and take ownership. I realised there was a paradigm shift that needed to happen if a client, from the west, was going to understand how to think in this integrated and paradoxical way. You had to think differently to get holistic healing.

Alongside that was the creative angle to health. My practise was in a town highly concentrated in artists that created sublime works via their own unique vision but when it came to their health, they blindly subscribed to the generic model. There was a mismatch - in one area of life they were boundless, in another shackled.

Enter some soul searching, serendipity, a good old fashioned pandemic, and “losing my religion” (so to speak) - where my life did a mighty crash and burn and left me floating in the cloud of unknowing for awhile - taking notes, going down rabbit holes.

I started to thread a path of unravelling the above curiosities. It led to two years of writing and refining programs culminating in transforming my practise from fixing disease to healing spirit and self-sovereignty. I set up an online business of Ayurvedic immersions where I hold bespoke, small online live immersions to teach you how to become your own Ayurvedic practitioner - a condensed, practical, quirky and creatively unlimited daily-life approach for modern living.

This publication supports this venture. The articles will extrapolate upon the ideas presented in the workshops and hopefully pique your interest to want to find out more about your own Ayurvedic Constitution.

The take home is to take back control. Our great grandmothers didn’t run to the doctor for every small ailment. In a world gearing to author your every move and reduce your choice for living uniquely, it is possible to reclaim sovereignty via a spirit based, sacred creative perspective. Agency must be enacted. You can create the narrative of the world you want to live in.
